Chile: For the Heart & the Feet
LOCATED ON 6000 LEVEL
Chile: For the Heart & the Feet is a photography book that captures immersive travel through personal storytelling
Problem Space
Contemporary travel media often prioritizes spectacle over presence, encouraging a form of checklist tourism centered on landmarks and “must-see” destinations. In doing so, it tends to flatten places like Chile into a set of familiar clichés, leaving little room for the sensory, emotional, and mundane dimensions that shape a fuller experience. As a result, travelers may overlook opportunities to engage more meaningfully with the culture and the people who inhabit it.
Design Solution
This project offers a guided memoir that celebrates heritage, challenges tourism stereotypes, and fosters cross cultural understanding through photography, ephemera, and fragmented narratives. Part tribute, part travel guide, and part reflection on identity, this book invites readers to experience Chile beyond the typical tourist lens, through the eyes of someone who carries it’s landscapes, culture, and memories across continents.
