Problem Space
The true crime genre has exploded in popularity, particularly among young adults, across podcasts, documentaries, books, and social media. While audiences are drawn to these stories for various reasons; curiosity, fear, empathy, or the thrill of solving mysteries. This growing fascination also raises ethical questions. There is a need to unpack this obsession and present it visually in a way that is both critical and insightful, inviting viewers to think deeply about the content they consume.
Design Solution
This awareness campaign interrupts passive true crime consumption and encourages more mindful habits. The poster will be placed within library stacks with an accompanying booklet offering deeper insight into the mental health effects of overconsumption, and provides practical strategies and resources. This experience extends to social media through short videos, quick statistics, and actionable tips. The goal is to create a connected system that both informs and supports young adults in building healthier media relationships.
