For Public Distribution
LOCATED ON 5000 LEVEL
A limited publication that provides a new orientation for thought on media literacy and public discourse
Problem Space
As media formats have evolved, news and entertainment have intertwined, redefining how information is distributed and consumed in a post-digital world. The result is a foregoing of print—for its atomized algorithmic counterpart— leading to an overwhelmed and skeptical public. In an attention-driven digital ecosystem, news is encountered more than it is understood. The future of journalism depends on fostering intentional, critically engaged readers.
Design Solution
For Public Distribution: A New Orientation for Thought takes key concepts, from media philosopher Neil Postman’s 1985 text Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business and layers annotations from a digital native in 2026 to create a two-fold perspective on media consumption. The publication’s aim is to cultivate a more intentional, critical, interaction with both the news and the relationships it mediates.
