Problem Space
Hockey is one of the most exciting sports in the world but has historically struggled in areas without strong hockey roots. New Orleans is an area that has struggled to establish a hockey presence, despite being home to a passionate sports fanbase. One of the biggest reasons for this is a lack of interest stemming from things like limited dedicated ice and local professional teams to root for.
Design Solution
The New Orleans Rougarou is a proposed NHL expansion team with the goal of building the game of hockey in this non-traditional market. Expansion teams have shown in the past they have an ability to establish local hockey culture with the arrival of a professional team to root for. The branding of the Rougarou was built with help and feedback from local hockey fans in order to build a sense of community and highlight the local culture that New Orleans is brimming with.
