Problem Space
Across the U.S., high school students are increasingly deprived of access to important books on diverse topics such as classics, unique narratives, and perspectives. These restrictions imposed by school boards, administrators, and some parental groups not only limits the exploration of history and ideas but also threatens students’ intellectual freedom and educational growth.
Design Solution
The exhibition guides students through the impacts of book banning on school systems and explains how this has evolved over time. To engage viewers, interactive elements are dispersed throughout the exhibition, including an emotional feedback wall, spaces to vote on current book bans, revealing informational components, and walls to connect them as a community, so as a result they can start to advocate on this issue.
